Engineers from Midas-NDT have installed a Combined Immersion and Jet Probe Inspection System in Scotland.
The system was delivered to a composite component manufacturer in Prestwick where installation, commissioning and all aspects of operator and maintenance training were carried out as part of a turn-key operation.
The system is capable of pulse-echo immersion inspection using a manually normalised immersion manipulator in the immersion tank with a glass plate reflector located on a levelling table.
Through-transmission inspection is carried out using water jets mounted above the immersion tank.
New AMW Range of Transducers
Midas-NDT have introduced a new range of broadband transducers to meet the requirements of Lockheed Martin specification LMA-PC001A (Requirements for ultrasonic inspection of bonded and composite structures).
The transducers have a short pulse (> 50% bandwidth) and are available in 1MHz, 2.25MHz, 5MHz and 10MHz frequencies with a frequency tolerance within 10% of stated frequency .
Upgrade Orders for Norway
Midas-NDT have received an order to upgrade the computer hardware and software on two inspection systems for an aerospace customer in Norway.
The systems, originally manufactured by Meccasonics, will be equipped with new computer hardware and the latest Zeus data acquisition and evaluation software.
Transducer Calibration - NADCAP
Midas-NDT have expanded their complete service to aerospace customers requiring regular transducer calibration to meet NADCAP requirements. A number of customers have identified a requirement to regularly inspect transducers against original manufacturer standards and EN 12668 or E-1065.
This certification service is carried out on specialist inspection equipment at Midas-NDT on a twenty-four hour turn-around and can also be extended to transducers from any other manufacturer.
