Versatile MultiMag offers multiple options for inspection

Phoenix Inspection Systems Ltd67, Warrington, United Kingdom

A new low-profile magnetic wheeled scanner from Phoenix Inspection Systems offers the ultimate in flexibility.

The MultiMag is fully adjustable with a novel design that allows the wheels to be positioned anywhere on the scanner frame. It can be used on everything from pipes as small as 3 outside diameter, up to flat plate and is suitable for phased array, TOFD and pulse echo applications.

The MultiMag has quick release handles to allow easy movement of the wheels, toolposts and encoder. Pivoting arms optimise probe contact while tilting wheel brackets aid inspection on misaligned welds. The toolposts are independently sprung and gimballed.

The MultiMag holds up to eight probes and is self-supporting on the workpiece. Weighing just 2kg, it is lightweight and compact and has a robust modular construction for practicality on site. The MultiMag can be used with any manufacturers probes, wedges and instrumentation.

Paul Ryan, Phoenix sales manager, said: The MultiMag is the latest addition to Phoenix s family of manual and mechanised scanners. It has been introduced as a result of increased demand for a versatile scanner that can be used with phased array and TOFD on areas such as pipe elbows or restricted access inspections.
