This order is evidence of the YXLONs technological expertise in digital radiography for the aerospace industry; it also expands its market position. The US aerospace industry is a driving force behind the replacement of film by digital procedures in the non-destructive testing of materials. High-quality digital inspection procedures are in growing demand in order to test the increasingly compact and complex components involved in the production process for turbine blades with high-resolution images. With the Y.MU56 turbine blade system from the Systems division, a major US manufacturer of turbine blades continues the transition from film to digital X-ray technology in its facilities. The YXLON test system combines innovative elements such as the 600 kV high-energy X-ray source from COMET, imaging software customized to meet exacting customer requirements, and efficient mechanical component handling. We are keen to take advantage of the growth opportunities arising from the digitalization of the US aerospace industry. This order confirms once again the potential our technology holds for this market segment, states Joseph Kosanetzky, head of the Systems division. These systems allow irregularities in components to be detected even in those areas where this is not possible using films.
