"In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite." Paul Dirac (1902 - 1984)
New tools to improve NDT community knowledge: WidgeNDT
Improve NDT community knowledge is one of our challenges. We have decided to provide free resources on our website.
This month, we launch NDT Widgets. Some explanations are available on our YouTube channel and these resources are free of use. Snell's law, slowness curves and phased array principles are the first ones we provide. We would really enjoy to have your feedback and any ideas. Enjoy them!
Focus on a R&D European project: SIMPOSIUM
EXTENDE participates to a huge European project: SIMPOSIUM.
This project aims at gathering simulation tools within a same interoperable platform that would make possible the virtual testing of complex components (shape and structure) from the early stages of their conception.
We have just put online a dedicated website. More information can be found about this project and the 15 partners involved in it on www.simposium.eu
Follow EXTENDE on the web
EXTENDE is always trying its best to contribute to the transmission of NDT knowledge.
To be informed about new products, resources, training courses, exhibitions, don't hesitate to follow us! Our Linkedin page and our YouTube channel will allow you to be connected to EXTENDE news more easily. You want a demo of CIVA's modules? An overview on how it works? Have a look at them. New material will be posted regularly on it.
CIVA story, interview of Mr. Loic de Roumilly
Mr. Loic De Roumilly, Group Manager at EDF CEIDRE, accepted to answer some of our questions. Kindly find on our website his interview.
What is your role at EDF? For how long have you been doing this job?
I have been working at EDF for 3 years as the Ultrasonics and Automatic Techniques Team Leader in the department of NDT (Non Destructive Testing) engineering. Like three other teams of the same size, the goal of my group (composed of ten people) is to develop, or supervise the development by industrial partners of NDT processes, and subsequently present them to ... Next CIVA training sessions: June 2012
Next CIVA training session will take place in June, from the 12th to the 15th, in EXTENDE's facilities in Massy, France. This session will be dedicated to the UT module. However, during the year, other training courses will include ET and RT modules, or be dedicated to one of them in particular (UT, ET, RT, GW or CT). Do not hesitate to contact us to register or for more information about the organized sessions. We also invite you to visit our webpage and have a look at our training course catalogue.
Application cases available in more languages
We would like to inform you that we uploaded application cases about CIVA in many languages on our website. Do not hesitate to click and have a look:
CIVA Tip: Define a calibration in the ET module
Any NDE inspection requires a calibration stage to provide quantitative results. This usually involves a calibration block including one or several artificial flaws and is clearly defined in inspection procedures. The same operations have to be performed in a simulation study if you wish to be able to compare simulation results and experiments.
In the ET module, this will require to simulate both configurations: The calibration flaw response then the effective flaw response ... Read more on our website.
