New CorroMap for Corrosion Investigation of ConcretePapworths Construction Testing Equipment Pty Ltd (PCTE)8, Brookvale, Australia
PCTE would like to introduce the all new CorroMap. Produced by Force Technology of Denmark, the CorroMap is the new version of the Galvapulse. The Galvapulse was known worldwide for it quick and reliable corrosion assessment of steel reinforcing in concrete. The CorroMap automatically performs a half cell potential, concrete resistance and rebar corrosion rate measurement on every test. It stores the data and allows maps of the concrete element to be created automatically.
Half Cell Potentials (HCP) are probably the most popular test method for corrosion of steel reinforcing. They give an indication of the likelihood of corrosion and are very good for defining actively corroding areas on a structure. However HCPs can be hard to interpret or may not even work on saturated concrete. The addition of concrete resistance and corrosion rate to the analysis gives the operator much more information from which to base their investigation. Concrete resistance gives an indication of chloride and moisture levels in the cover concrete as well as a quality control on the HCPs. The corrosion rate will allow the user to quantify what is in actually going on in an actively corroding area.
