PA Ultrasonic Inspection of Complex Geometry Welds: True-To-Shape S-Scan / B-Scan and TFM Imaging Out of the Same Scanning DataSonotron NDT70, Rehovot, Israel
Since July 2017 all ISONIC series portable PA ultrasonic flaw detectors (ISONIC 3510, ISONIC 2010, ISONIC 2009) from Sonotron NDT are featured with the FMC/TFM protocols of data acquisition, processing and imaging. Thanks to the storing of all primary A-Scans from each element of the receiving aperture the True-To-Shape equalized cross-sectional sensitivity (EquPAS) S-Scan / B-Scan and TFM images may be formed out of the same scanning data for the various inspections including the complex geometry welds, such as Long Seams, Lap-, Fillet-, TKY-, Nozzle-, Corner-, and the like as it is illustrated by the video below.
The availability of both complimentary approaches such as True-To-Shape equalized cross-sectional sensitivity (EquPAS) S-Scan / B-Scan and FMC/TFM out of the same scanning improves the speed and informativeness of the inspection and defects evaluation.
