PTI President Speaks at National Seafood ConferencePTI Packaging Technologies & Inspection4, Tuckahoe, NY, USA
Tuckahoe, NY (February 9, 2009) - Tony Stauffer, president of Packaging Technologies & Inspection, was invited to speak at the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) National Seafood Conference on February 4, 2009 in Charleston, South Carolina. Stauffer spoke about PTIs Seal-Scan Non-Destructive Inspection Technology for pouch seal testing and analysis.
Stauffer stated, "Packaging various types of seafood including tuna, salmon and even whole fish filets in a pouch is becoming more and more popular. Seafood consumption is on the rise due to the many healthy benefits. Many consumers prefer the convenience of the pouch, and believe its the next best thing to fresh product."
Stauffer adds, "It's critical to confirm the processes used in retortable foods to insure food products are safely contained in the package before shipment. Using the proper inspection method to verify package and seal integrity is an important step in the manufacturing process and cannot be overlooked. PTI offers inspection technologies for retort packaging that are non-destructive, non-invasive and require no sample preparation." Stauffer adds, "Our inspection systems produce test results that are precise and repeatable with statistical data that really means something."
Stauffer discussed the patented technology and the many advantages, "Seal-Scan inspection systems utilize airborne ultrasound technology to test the integrity of heat seals of retort pouches and flexible packaging. Seal-Scan works with all materials and offers the unique ability to evaluate and analyze seal quality, pinpointing invisible seal defects that affect product quality, value and shelf-life. Seal-Scan detects seal defects that commonly occur in retort packaging such as contaminations in the seal area, channel leaks, delaminations, misaligned seals, bonding defects and many other defects that can contribute to poor seal integrity." Stauffer adds, "For packagers and processors, the key is to be able to identify and correct problems before package integrity gets out of control, and Seal-Scan technology is an excellent solution for both quality and process control."

About Tony Stauffer
For over 23 years, Tony Stauffer has focused on developing inspection technologies for the packaging industry that perform with a high degree of precision and reliability, and simplify testing and validation processes in the food, pharmaceutical, medical device and container industries.
