KARL DEUTSCH company - well attended at the fair

In the year of its 60th anniversary the KARL DEUTSCH company also exhibited at the international welding show "SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN" in Essen (Germany). Compared to the "Control" fair in spring, the employees at the KARL DEUTSCH stand were satisfied about the strong demand and many visitors at the exhibition booth. As usual, most of the quality assurance suppliers exhibited in the same exhibition hall of the QTI fair (Quality Testing International) which is part of the bigger fair. For visitors this circumstance allowed a quick overview and orientation within the non-destructive testing sector.

The new compact multi-channel ultrasonic testing electronic ECHOGRAPH 1093 was shown in combination with a small immersion tank. Several test channels were enabled at the same time while the respective probes detected various flaws in a round steel bar sample. A test with rotating sample and linear probe movement was carried out. In this way the high testing speed (up to a sequence of 2 kHz per channel) was impressively demonstrated. For two years, this test electronic is used in several types of industrial sectors. Welded transmission gear wheels, forged gear shafts and high-pressure pipes for the chemical industry were among the tested components.

The KD-Check Testing System for stationary penetrant testing represented the surface crack detection range. This stationary system is designed for testing with red dye penetrant and fluorescent penetrant. The stationary system is made of stainless steel and is insensible against the test liquid. A support grid is used as a work surface. The test liquid vapors can be reliably absorbed with an explosion-proof suction cleaner and an additional explosion-proof daylight lighting system provides a standard conforming viewing condition. The electronic control system at the housing of the stationary system allows power connections for more devices (UV lamp, dryer etc.). Water washable test liquids are being normally used and the penetrant removal can be done by using a hand shower. The water runs down the support grid into the filtering unit which works with activated charcoal. Therefore, the penetrant removal uses the same water for a longer time period until an appropriate disposal of the waste water is required.

The newly developed UV-LED-lamp was also presented as a new accessory for magnetic particle and penetrant testing. The long term life time of the illuminant (five high-power UV-LED's), low heat radiation, very uniform intensity profile of the illumination and the power supply by a rechargeable battery pack are the main features of this new lamp.

In May 1949, the KARL DEUTSCH company was established by Ing. Karl Deutsch. Today, the family-owed company is managed by the third family generation. All products are developed und manufactured by 140 highly motivated employees in Wuppertal (Germany). The products for non-destructive material testing are designed for ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing and penetrant testing. The product range varies from mobile devices up to large testing machines. The export rate is about 60%. The Asian market has a significant share of sales.
